“Dolls in the City,”  -- a group exhibit by members of the Women’s Caucus for Art of Georgia, opens at 2 Rules Fine Art in Marietta on May 3

ATLANTA (April 15, 2013) – 2 Rules Fine Art will host “Dolls in the City,” a group exhibit by members of the Women’s Caucus for Art of Georgia (WCAGA) showing May 3 – June 29. The exhibit will use art to initiate a dialogue about human sex trafficking issues in Atlanta and surrounding communities. An opening reception will be held on Friday, May 3, from 5-9pm during the Marietta Art Walk. An additional reception will be held 5-9pm during the June 7th Art Walk.

The major objectives of this exhibit are to raise awareness and concern that sex trafficking is a problem in the Atlanta metro area and to provide an educational platform for local organizations that are available to help. By encouraging community dialogues on this topic, exhibit organizers and artists hope to help victims and potential victims of sex trafficking.

Informative programs and presentations will be taking place at the gallery in conjunction with the visual art exhibit.

On May 11 at 7:00pm, DreamCatcher Collective, Inc. will present several scenes from its theatrical production, “Traffik,” produced and directed by Jacquay Waller. In this interactive program, actors introduce a variety of characters and stories from the sex trafficking world. Members of the audience will be invited to voice their questions and opinions.

On the following Saturday, May 18, 1:30 p.m., author Susan Norris will discuss the basis for her novel, "Rescuing Hope." Susan has been counseling women rescued from sex trafficking and is working to raise consciousness of the increasing numbers of young women being caught in this nightmare. There will be a  Q and A session after her talk.

Other programs will be announced. The “Dolls in the City” exhibit will be at the 2 Rules gallery through June 29. The receptions on May 3 and June 7, free and open to the public, include music and refreshments. The gallery is located at 85 Church St., Marietta, GA 30060.
