Carol Anderson - Traveling Companions

Statement

Monarch butterfly populations, like so many species, are suffering from loss of habitat and climate change. Their life cycle is nothing short of miraculous. We humans can do more to aid them in their perilous journey to and from Mexico. These monarch butterflies lived in our perennial garden in August 2018. Our family watched them as they chomped through milkweed leaves and stems. These two guys (or gals?) hung out together. We worried over them as our “crazy weather” unseasonably oscillated from warm to very cold to warm. We wondered if they formed chrysalises, became butterflies, and flew together to Mexico. We cannot know, but we hope.
